Axel Kaapke is a German jazz pianist, composer and arranger from Frankfurt am Main, who lives in the neighboring Wetterau region.
After studying music, he worked as a tour, theater and studio musician and taught at the Mainz University of Music in the jazz and popular music department.

He performs mainly with his own trio, but also occasionally appears in other formations and as a soloist.
His focus is on modern jazz and Latin.

Cliander's sound falls into the category of lounge music. But its open and instrumental architecture with repeated electronic elements and acoustic improvisations designate it as Nu Jazz. A large part of this sounds is created by the deployment of keyboards especially from the 70s: from Rhodes piano, Yamaha CP 70 to synthesizers up to more recent modern samplers.


A.K.T. moves in the tradition of modern jazz - interpreting on the one hand standards of the American from Parker to Coltrane and unfolding their own compositions that reveal a European perspective on jazz.
